Sun 2nd, Cape Leveque to Broome

Wind picks up by again 11pm, one side of the tropical roof has already lifted so I pull down the remainder about 2am to stop some of the constant flapping. We stll get buffeted by a strong gusty wind until dawn. Have to borrow Jeff and Helen's portable stove to make our coffee as our kitchen is too exposed to the wind.

We were going to shift to the caravan park at Cape Leveque and stay another night then try and get into Quandong beach for a couple of nights after the public holiday however the wind has put an end to that plus Jeff still has battery charging issues between his two fridges and the car and camper. The 120w solar panels are not putting out enough for the battery systems to cope. He is looking to buy a generator in Broome or Derby before the Gibb River road which we will hit in on Sunday week.

We pack up with Chris doing most of the heavy work to rest me and my cold. I go off to say see you in Broome to Jeff and Helen and to say goodbye for the moment to the Foxes. I get given a Marble Bar stubbie cooler and some local jasper from Mike and Sue for my birthday to go with the gold laced quartz my farther was given in Marble Bar after releaving in the bank up there.

Chris drives us to Broomw where we book into the Cable Beach Caravan Park for 2 nights. From our previous stay we know that this park is quieter than Palm Grove. The campers next to Jeff and Helen are celebrating their engagement, the proposal was made on a camel ride on Cable Beach.
