Sun 9th, Derby to Silent Grove

Up at 6am for a continental brekky then out in the boat again at 7am for another run through the falls. We have to change boats as a trouble light is up. The new boat has saddle type seats as against the normal seats of the other boat. Tide is just in low, water is flowing in through the outer gorge and out through the inner gorge. We look at exposed coral in the middel lagoon then we go through into the inner lagoon in the 15 minutes where there is almost no flow through the inner falls. When we come out again the exposed coral has now been covered, the tide here has risen 20mm in just a few minutes.

At 7:35am it is back on the sea planes for the flight out, this time a more scenic route that covers much coastal scenery.

Once back in Derby a bus delivers us back to our car which ahs been safe overnight. We seek out a takeaway coffee to wash the taste if the instant coffee in the boat out of our mouths. We let the kids know that we are about to go out of mobile range for three weeks and then take a shirt call from our son who also texts us a couple of new photos of our grand daughter playing with a new toy.

We drive back to the Windjana camping area and than the camp host for shifting our solar panels with a bottle of port. We later find out that most of the shifting was done by Hans a fellow traveller, no wonder the host was so happy to get the port!

Drive to Silent Grove and setup in the generator area so we can be with Jeff and Helen. They arrive much later having had a flat tyre due to sidewall damage, tyre destroyed, all on a part of the GRR which is really good. Jeff wants to go into Imintji in the morning to get his remaining spare case put on the rim and try and get a new tyre.
