Got up as soon as daylight started showing to get breakfast underway before the flies arrived. Started off OK but then I had to fish flies out of my coffee and muesli. Retired to the camper trailer to eat in peace. Quickly packed up and fled to Barkley Homestead 130 km down the road.
We started the trip north quite badly. We followed Foxy out of Barkley and assumed Jeff was in the lead, Later on Foxy was adamant that Jeff was still there when they left. The next mistake was not checking by UHF at the start when we were all close together. Consequently we waIted for Jeff for over an hour at a driver change and lunch stop.
On arrival at Cape Crawford 379 km to the north there was Jeff waiting impatiently for us! We have now implemented 30 minute UHF check- ins when travelling in convoy to make sure we stay together.
Mike and Sue stayed overnight in the Heartbreak Hotel's accomodation. The restnof us went on to the Little River Rest Area 10 km west of CC where we setup on a nice grassy campsite. Mike and Sue came out form a few drinks in the evening.
Dinner was cold ham, cold sausages and some left over chicken.
