Mon 6th, Millstream Chichester NP

A month on the road today. Everything now has a permanent layer of red dust that nothing seems to shift.

Crossing Pool is a relaxing quite campsite and we have decide to spend one of our free days here. Tomorrow we have a change of plan and will head to Karatha to get a replacement tyre for my flat. Will also take the time to visit the 'Red Dog' memorial.

This morning we walk the trail between Crossing Pool and the Homestead, 6.8km return plus the 750m loop of the Homestead walk. The trail is still closed as the pathway across the river has been obliterated in the wet however we have a GPS with a map showing the walking trail. We cross the river bed and then use the GPS to quickly pick up the path. The first part of the walk is exposed but improves as you enter the Homestead creek bed.

We repeat the homestead walk loop and then return. Somewhat hot on the return journey through the exposed area. A refreshing swim when we get back is very welcome.

Offered to cook a fish dinner for everyone so set off about 3:30pm down to the fast running water below the pool with some cooked rare marinated rib fillet and some out of date chicken. After several spots I've picked up the 3 reasonable sized catfish as required. Filleting was a pain, if we eat them again it will be baked whole. Did them on the BabyQ as fish parcels which complimented the rissoto that Chris had cooked. The rissoto was the star dish though.
