Jeff called out to me at 5:30am to see if I was awake. I got up and off we went to the national park registration station and were there by 5 to 6, the first people in the queue. The ranger arrived at 8:00am and contacted all the camp hosts to find out the daily vacencies. We were able to get two campsites in Mesa which we had been advised was a good camp by our hosts at Crossing Pool and another traveller.
Dawn at the registration station |
Back to the caravan park to pack up and shift camp to the Cape Range NP. This time we put the full annex up as there are some strong winds expected in the next few days and we may need the annex walls.
Rig the rods and go fishing at about 2:30pm, low tide on the way, high is best apparently, not much action. Put the rod in the rod holder and suddenly it takes off at about 4:30pm, can't stop it, 20lb line breaks. Score is fish 1 John 0. Try for another three quarters of an hour with no more bites. Pasta for dinner!
We picked up a camping info sheet from the registration station while we were waiting there this morning. Sheet says generator hours are 8am to 7pm, being 7:30 pm we ask our neighbour if he would turn his very noisy generator off. He did so but with bad grace saying that Murray our camp host says the generator hours are 8am to 9pm.
We had picked up a woolen bed underlay in Karatha, Chris fitted it this morning, looking forward to a nice cozy night with that.
