Wed 8th, Dampier to Cape Range

Not that good a night, both Chris and myself woke around 2:30am and could not get back to sleep. Too much light next to the camper trailer, moderate wind blowing. To top it off they started water blasting the office at 6:15am in preparation for painting it.

The breeze in the morning prevented the gas stove from functioning well, it took around 45 minutes to get our stove top percolating going by using everything we could find as a wind break.

View out the front of teh caravan park

Left the caravan park at about 9:00am and went off to look at the Red Dog memorial after which we proceeded down the north west coastal highway towards Exmouth.

Boring road, heading into some weather.

Heavy rain for a while around the Fortescue roadhouse. Continued on through Exmouth to the Yardie Homestead caravan park in Cape Range where we stayed overnight. Nice park, friendly staff with everything just as it should be.

We were advised by the park staff to start queueing at the Cape Range national park registration station between 6 and 8am as that is when they establish vacancies and alot camping sites.
