Sat 4th, Hamersley Gorge to Millstream Chichester NP

Turned out to be a good quite camp. No flies or mossies, no traffic apart from a few vehicles after 5am, all in all very good with some good views of hills at sunrise and sunset.

Chris reckons this is the best loo so far on the trip:

The loo with a view.

We head back west to the Rio Tinto railway line and proceed up the track towards the Millstream Chichester NP.

3km iron ore train
Railway ore wagons as far as you can see

The first flat tyre of the trip happens to our Modcon trailer. Unfortunately the TPMS was not registering the sensor on that wheel and it was only picked up when I noticed an abnormal lean on the camper trailer in the rear vision mirror. I suspect the tyre is a write off having been run flat for too long. A lot of red dust, 32C and after a bit of time we were back on our way. Thanks to Jeff for his able assistance in the tyre change over. Will take a bit more time in future and re-initialise lame TPMS sensors.

The Linglong (tyre brand) as supplied by Modcon certainly did not linger long!
Filthy hands and body

We setup camp at the Crossing campground in MS NP as this is the only one with swimming and no generators. Water temperature is great for a swim.

We notice that the river is swarming with large catfish. If you throw any food in at all it is devoured by a dozen large catfish. I rig a soft plastics rod and throw in a 5" hollowbody, get a hit on the first cast and a fish on the 3rd, pull in and net a 2lb catfish which was released.
